ANR Abstracts Accepted for Presentation at 2023 AUA and IARS Meetings

Academic poster titled 'Modulation of Human Memory and Pain by Intravenous Anesthetic Agents' presented by UPMC at a scientific conference. The poster explores how different anesthetic agents affect brain activity related to pain processing, memory, and fear conditioning in young adults. It includes sections on Summary, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Other Info. The Methods section features flowcharts and graphical abstracts illustrating the experimental setup. The Results section presents statistical data through bar and line graphs, along with labeled brain scans highlighting areas of change. Discussion interprets findings with technical language, and additional details are provided in Other Info. Visual elements include icons like a brain and molecules, enhancing comprehension of the study's setup and findings.

Several ANR abstracts were accepted for dual presentation at the annual meetings of the Association for University Anesthesiologists (AUA) and International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) in April 2023:

• Dr. Brian Reon, PGY-4 resident, was first author and presented the abstract “Intraoperative Triple Low States and Low MAP-BIS States are Associated with Post-Operative ICU Delirium.”
• Alex Burlew, Pitt medical student, was first author and presented the abstract “Resting-State Functional Connectivity Changes with Propofol, Dexmedetomidine, and Fentanyl in Healthy Young Adults: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Comparative Study Using 7 Tesla MRI.”
• Dr. Keith Vogt presented the abstract “Modulation of Human Memory and Pain by Diverse Anesthetic Agents: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Crossover 7 Tesla Functional MRI Study in Healthy Young Adults.”
